Schools and Young People
Working with Schools and Young People has very much been at the heart of the work that SUPERACT! has undertaken since it was set up. Many Schools and groups for young people have benefitted from the workshops and performances which we have been able to offer them.
Music is a vital part of life for everyone, and for young people it is invigorating and enlivening to get the chance to participate and make their own music.
It is this philosphy which drives SUPERACT! and here we are listing some current projects and ideas of how we can help provide workshops and musical performances that deliver!
SUPERACT! at ANSFORD SCHOOL

In early 2008, SUPERACT! was approached by Somerset Music to cover the post of Head of Music at Ansford School near Castle Cary in Somerset.
This required us to take the curriculum and approach it from a completely different direction.
A year later, the formula has consolidated itself and been a huge success. The students have access to music from cultures across the world and a whole variety of genres, provided by visiting musicians who have instilled the School with music.
The knock-on effects of music have also been witnessed, with higher levels of concentration and attendance.
The model is also being piloted at Chilton Trinity School in Bridgwater which is also finding it a huge benefit to the students and School alike.
JUMPS

In February 2008, SUPERACT! took over as the lead organisation for the DCMS project JUMPS, which aims to bring music organisations together to promote and offer up more music opportunities to schools and young people.
Ansford School is a direct result of the work of JUMPS and, even though the project is due to come to an end in March 2009, it is planned that the highly regarded website and work at places like Ansford will continue.

ARTS AWARD

The Young Persons Arts Award is organised through the Arts Council and Trinity Guildhall and provides young people with the chance to gain a recognised qualification through arts activities.
Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are available and can be gained through working via a registered centre and a qualified adviser.
Any arts subject can be chosen and music is, of course, one of the most popular.
SUPERACT! is a registered centre and has qualified advisers on it's staff, so if you would like more advice and help, then contact us.
